Katie Bohn, LPC, BC-DMT, SEP
Hi and welcome! My name is Katie (she/her/hers), and I am a board-certified dance/movement therapist, somatic experiencing practitioner, certified Kripalu yoga instructor, and licensed professional counselor. I am also the Clinical Director at Emovere, and I am glad you are here. As a dancer from birth, I am passionate about helping people heal from trauma through self-expression, dance/movement, and somatic-based psychotherapy, art, writing and play. I continue to be a student of my craft, which I believe plays into my empathetic approach of walking with my clients towards healing and authenticity.
After a short stint in the business/entertainment industry and a period of significant self-reflection, I chose to dare greatly and pursue my dream of becoming a dance/movement therapist. I received my Masters’ of Education in Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and completed her graduate work in dance/movement therapy at the 92Y Harkness Dance Center in New York City, where I also fulfilled the Somatic Experience Trauma Institute training. This training included Laban Movement Analysis & the Kestenberg Movement Profile as movement analysis & intervention tools that I now utilize in my authentic movement and dance/movement therapy approaches. I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree in counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis focusing on creative art and somatic therapies.
I was honored to bring my knowledge and passion as a dance/movement therapist to children with cancer and special needs at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital prior to starting Emovere. In addition, I have worked as a counselor and clinical supervisor in residential eating disorder facilities and outpatient settings over the past decade. Throughout my career, I have led several workshops and presentations in addition to my therapeutic work and taught as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri- St. Louis.
